My Lord,
With reference to telegram No. 832 of December
17th from the Commander-in-Chief, unina Station to the
Admiralty reporting that Vice-Admiral Shiozawa was shortly
being relieved by Vice-Admiral Kondo de Cordaunder-in-Chief
of the Fifth Fleet, I have the honour to inform you that
in 1935 Admiral Kondo was Chief of staff of the Combined
Flest, he then became Director of the operations Division
of the Naval Stuff until his appointment to his present
post.
Admiral Kondo is of a quiet disposition and
normally does not display any anti-british feelings.
He
is believed to be on close personal terms with the Imperial
Family.
